Hi guys! I first joined usher ministry around in September 2007. I remembered that I wanted to join usher ministry because I wanted to serve God and His people and I wasn’t in any ministry at that time so I decided to join usher ministry :D

My first usher duty was during the parachute band concert and I was placed at the glass door and attached to one of the older ushers. I think it was a really great experience as I learnt how to step out of my comfort zone and to greet people with confidence when they enter. I think this marks off as a great start to my ‘ushering journey’ as I learnt the basics of an usher: to always smile at people & making them feel comfortable.

Another impactful experience was which when Zone F ushers were on duty on 1^st March in the main auditorium! I was in section A and holding the walkie talkie. Holding the walking talkie was really a great experience. During this usher duty, I had grown to another level and I believe so did the other ushers. This usher duty was really different from that as zone F service as we cannot afford to be slack and we really need to give our 100% to God and to serve people whole-heartedly.

Usher ministry is indeed a ministry that moulds up my confidence and many of the things I learnt in usher ministry could all be applied in my daily life. I see myself being a usher IC by the end of 2008 and I will work towards this and will continue to give my best to God. (:

Hi everyone ! I am YiJing . I first joined usher just last yr . I can't really remember when . Haha . I joined usher because i felt the people is so cool . When i first came , It was the usher that gives me the best impression for coming back again . Because they let me feel that , just my first visit , i have been part of their family . (: Last yr , i asked pei shan if i could join usher , she said she will consider & asked ivan . Then just nice , Ivan came down with a guitar then i rushed to him , asking " Ivan Ivan .. , Can i join usher ? " He looked at me for awhile & said , " U really want to join ? " Then i said yes ! & so he shouted to pei shan across the auditorium to let me join usher . and immediately , i was called to go for training . My 3 impactful incidents are Usher Training , My duty & position . Usher Training has really helped me through a lot during duty . Because if i forgot anything , i will remember the notes i wrote on my notebook to smile and welcome ppl . My duty will always be the most unforgettable one ! As i am very blur as i just stepped in , my usher IC , Jazreel will always be there to guide me . And there is one time , i was late . Because during one usher meeting with jian ming , he told us usher ministry is now a strict ministry . First time late , close one eyes , Second time , Don't do duty . Third time , Out of usher Ministry . & my late was the second time . When i went in Zone F Room , I do not know what to do . Bt as the ppl helping out is not enough , Jazreel gave me one more chance to do duty . But of course , she talk to me after my duty about the sense of urgency . My position was quite fun too .

Because i am the one giving ppl the 1st impression when they come to church . Smiling is the most important . Because if u give ppl a dull face , they will felt unwelcome . But if you smile , ppl will felt welcome & smile back at you . I stayed on because i want to learn new things .

By the end of 2008 , i see myself rising up to be a usher IC leading ppl too . So that I could lead my members to a whole new level & run the race together (: .

Dear fellow ushers,
just want to share something about myself in usher ministry today! Haha.

When I first joined usher ministry, it was in 2006 when we were still in FTMS house!
I remembered it was my leader, Wendy Neo, who placed me in this ministry.
I used to be in BIG & Excel. Haha although that was quite some time ago but I still could feel the excitement we would always have before service. Before service we will prepare everything and get everything done well before our chief usher brief us. "Slack" was not in our dictionary. I remember Jeremy told us that if we say we "do not know what to do" we should start thinking of a list of 10 things that we can do. This not just made us think but also it pushes us to another level of accomplishing things before our leaders remind us the 2nd or 3rd time. It is very important that we start to take initiative and work as a team to cover all grounds (: And that would be great..

When I was quite new in usher ministry it was Cherie who keeps including me.. haha. As I was quite shy and did not want to talk much, she still talks to me and teaches me things which I did not know how to do. eg. preparing Pastors' water. She would take me around and show me how to do it. And as I grew to become a more regular usher, she challenged me to include the new crews that we have that particular service. Like really being a bestfriend to them to guide them & etc. I was really inspired that day. Everyone in the usher team were all so united and we made true friendships. I remembered there was once when as a team we had lunch before our usher duty! At that time, everyone will chiong to make it! LOL. we always eat at the QQ noodle shop.. lol.. We just love the fellowship lah.

In usher ministry, I had known what it means by the word "strict" and "discipline". In many ways, we will be definitely be discipled.. and that was when I really grew as a person! For me, I used to be always late. However, it took me an attitude of willingness to change to get this problem out of my life! I believe if I can change, so can you.. (: No matter how long, if we persevere (sometimes) the pain discipleship, all things are possible.

I think as usher ministry is progressing to usher ministry 2.0, I am looking forward to see people loving usher ministry even more.. as they serve even more, they would enjoy it even more.. More than being excellent but also first class spiritual ushers! Nevertheless, let's support our Pastors together in this, amen? yay.

hi guys :D Just wanna share with you guys how have i grown in usher since my first usher duty last year ! Peishan did my usher training with me and i was amazed by how strict the ministry in and to me it was a challenge ! My first usher duty was with warriors though i was in fighters as my usher IC needed ppl for zonef service , i remember everything run well that day , i followed my IC and observe how he prepares the water , how he collect the bulletins etc . And i was standing at the stairs welcoming the people ushering them into the room :D i remember i was the one taking the music stand away from stage when the worship starts , i was on standby there , felt the stress & didn't want anything to go wrong for that day. Service ended & we had debrief , my SL said that i was doing quite well for a new crew and it was my first duty. That sentence really hit me alot and i made a decision to accelerate in usher ministry & giving Him the glory !The second impactful experience was during the VBS . The IC was Yilin , and when we started out arranging the chairs we really took alot of time , i was quite disappointed with myself because it just shows that i need to improve on my sense of urgency and how slack i was when im on zonef duty. We prayed and i was stationed at the glass door to welcome the people in , i stood there and was quite lost having no idea what time should i go in when the praise&worship starts. After the VBS i rushed home straight away as it was already quite late , and i didn't stayed for the debrief but i know what happend during the debrief when i called one of my friend up , it really made my think . A week after VBS jianming gathered the zonef ushers telling us we need to bring zonef ushers to the next level and experience breakthroughs ! & i really did feel the change during the service. Soon after that zonef ushers has reconstruction , it was then my usher ic , Mark Yen left the ministry and Chelsea was the ic for fighters ! but i was posted to spartans with my lovely ic , Jazreel Ng :D She msged me after the ignite conference encouraging me to cheer up as i did not usher for the whole of ignite ! I was really happy when i received her msg and looked forward to the next usher duty . When i was informed that the whole of zonef ushers will be ushering on 1st March , i jumped from earth to heaven and heaven to earth ! I told my mum and confirm with her so that she wont locked me up last minute , it was quite a challenge to me as we only had 40mins left to arrange the chairs and put all the bulletins and paper , but one advantage was of course the chairs had already been setup :D i was helping out in section A with 3 of my friends , and settled down the people asap but it was quite messy for the starting of the service . We had debrief after that in the ops room and was really encouraged by jianming , i know i did give my best and 100% to God for that service , but im gonna keep bringing myself to a whole new level because when zonef have their own service in the audi , i will be one of the ushers , ushering them into their destiny. I do see myself as a usher IC by the end of the 2008. & of course im currently trying very hard to build myself up :D I will be aiming to be the one who carrys the pulpit during the zonef service in the audi next time with my friend , jiayin ! Well , in short , i want to be both a security and usher IC by the end of 08 !

Usher ministry really build up my confidence and boldness in my daily life , and those encourages that is given by my ic is priceless , they're the ones who will help you grow in usher ministry and i love them :D When i bring everything i learn in usher minstry to my cca , choir , my teacher seems amazed by what i am doing in choir . I think she'll be blown away if she knows how zonef service is run by youths aged from 12 to 15 ? How cool will it be when you're still ushering at the aged of 40? I love usher ministry alot , and the satisfaction i get everytime :D

My Journey in USHER...

I remembered begin deployed into usher ministry in the last few days of Henderson, just before hoGc moved over to FTMS. Actually, I did not even consider about Usher Ministry when my leader asked me about which ministry I would like to serve in. Therefore, I was quite disappointed when I was informed that I had been selected to be in the Usher Ministry.

But right now, that first disappointment has changed into excitement and eventually into commitment.

My first duty was a long time ago, but I remembered that it was the first few services over at FTMS that I began to really enjoy ushering. It was really fun and exciting to set up chairs, prepare the auditorium, ushering people into their seats and in the midst of all these, fellowshipping and bonding with my fellow ushers. The moment of disappointment has transformed into a momentum of serving driven by excitement.

During that time, we had a small room to ourselves and everyone cramped into it where we had our briefings, debriefings and also loads of fun. But more than all the fun, this small room which could only contain around 20 ushers at its maximum capacity, would be the launch pad of a much greater destiny that God had set before hoGc Usher Minstry.

Why was this small room such a significant to all the ushers and even myself who had stepped into it? It was a place where I had fellowship with ushers from different CGs, different zones and made many new friends in church. But more importantly, it was a place of discipleship, where I learnt not just ushering skills, but having a heart for others and also how to be a thinker, and not just a robot following instructions. I really drew a lot out of people like Roy, who was the Head Usher then and the Chief Ushers like Jian Ming, Pei Shan, Jeremy and Cherie.

It’s great to have the skills e.g. setting up chairs, communication and etc, but the backbone of our skills must be a heart for others and putting them, the congregation in our own shoes.

After ushering for a few months, the excitement that drives me to usher has began to lose its momentum, the things that I did in usher seems to be routines that are so repetitive and boring. I knew I would not last long if I only serve out of excitement and fun.

This was then when I learnt about commitment, to be dedicated and devoted to serve as an usher. God used the lives of my Chief Ushers and 2nd ICs to reveal to me the importance of being committed, seeing them doing the same thing over and over again, but still with the smile on their faces and the love for others made me want to do the same as well. Eventually the excitement began to work its way into a movement of commitment.

I had a dream to become a 2nd IC as well during the time at FTMS and Jian Ming told me that I need to see myself as one and to carry myself as one. And I engraved this deeply in my heart. I began to think like a 2nd IC and I tried my best to support my Chief Ushers in every duty I did. And this is how I rise up to become a Section Leader now. I want to encourage every usher; the Key is to see yourself as a Section Leader even though you are just an ordinary crew.

An ordinary crew that sees himself/herself as a Section Leader will become extraordinary crew. And soon an extraordinary crew will rise up to become a Section Leader. Amen!

My journey in usher has truly been life changing and it will continue to be now and also in the future. Know that when you usher people into their destiny, you will also usher yourself into your destiny that God has planned for you.

Hi Ushers,

I had joined usher ministry in 2003 during Henderson times and at that time my leader was also in usher ministry and he asked me which ministry I wanted to serve in and at that point of time, I was a very shy and not known plump boy and I am not able to decide which ministry I wanted to join so I just told my leader I join the same ministry as he does and the next thing I know, I am in usher ministry. In usher ministry, I get to know a few friends and they are none other than Noni, Jacky, Gang Yuan and Ah Cai. I always hang out with them and did duties together with them. We even challenged who can collect the offering the fastest at that time. "Police wear shorts in the past, usher ministry also wears shorts!" HAHAHA.

That was in Henderson days and when we had moved in to FTMS, Roy became the head usher and he came up with the cool looking formal black attire and now, here we are as ushers, wearing our formal black attire for duty. Doesn't it look professional? (: During the times of FTMS, I was stationed at the glass door for most of my duties and as you guys know, there are 3 lifts and when I saw the lift coming up to the 6th level, I would always get myself ready and tell my fellow partner at the glass door to get ready too and would stand straight and not pose. It was really a great experience for me and I have grown to be bold and having the confidence to approach people. I was taken out of usher ministry because of AE and after I came back, Noni was my Chief usher and Nadine and Yilin was the 2nd I/Cs for my team, "Kaleidoscope" and Nadine even thought I was a very new crew but Yilin told her, "Are you sure?" HAHAHA it was so funny when Nadine told me about this.

I still remembered when we were all waiting at dhoby ghaut mrt station for all the ushers and we are about to head towards FOP06. I was very excited because this is my first time ushering such a big crowd at the indoor stadium and I was stationed to usher the congregation at the ground level which is meant for the VIPs to be seated at. I was quite scared when the crowd dashed in but after doing for a couple of days, I had got the hang of it and after the whole experience, I look back and had seen myself really learnt a lot and growing to a whole new level.

How I became a Chief usher? I was not too sure but at that time, the rest of the Chief ushers came and congratulate me and I was puzzled why they did that and soon, I realise I was a Chief usher, that was how I became a Chief usher. During my first duty leading, I was very afraid and scared to talk to the ushers but I had pluck out my courage and really stepping out of my comfort zone. Jian Ming have really taught me a lot for all these years when he was a Chief usher in FTMS days and now I am proud to say that I have a great Head usher who really had sowed many things in my life! All the fun that we had in the past during the usher outings and the times that he had taught me. It is also God who had put me in usher ministry and allowing me to fulfil my destiny and now I want to serve people and leading them into their destiny! (:

Usher ministry is really a training ground that had moulded my character and attitude in life. So let's really grow to a ministry of 2.0 and our ownselves to 2.0! I really love usher ministry and also all the ushers, do you? (:

Hi HU 2.0, CU 2.0, SL 2.0, Ushers 2.0 and Everyone 2.0 who passes by our Usher blog ^^

I am Jacky Lim Yi Li 2.0 aka Long Ge 2.0 join usher with my brother Jeremy aka Noni in 2002. I join usher because I think is easy and no need to use so much thinking brain and only just listen to the person who ask me what to do can liao when last time our church youths is about 40-60 plus peoples. For me I think usher is really a training ground to me is because last time I am a person who is shy and my English is not so good and also not really strong like now cos I always staying at home slacking and playing game and not really build my body fit and I also lazy using my brain to think…hahaha…that looks like a lala land to me ^^

But!!! Now I am a whole new person who is Bold, Confidence, Strong and not last is my English!!! Cos I started learned my English like “is, was, are” in Pri 6. It really Amazing that God’s plan to put me in usher and really change me to a whole new person.

Y I want to stay on in usher because I have a great brother and Spiritual brother and sister like Jeremy aka Noni, Cousin Jonathan aka Ah Cai, Gang Yuan aka Peter, Jian Ming, keegan aka Armo, Yi lin aka Gang mei, Nicholas sim and a lot more people…always challenge each other who can carry the most more chair and always we have fun together and always joke around and learn more thing from each other and Grow together in skill and spiritual life…want to know more? Come join usher and come every duty and u will know everything…I am so happy that 2/3 of my CG mates is in Usher…B3 rule Usher!!! hahaha…

By the end of this year I want to become A Great Man for God and grow any level to be like Him more in every ministry and also can carry 10 chairs…now only 9 chairs…

Hi Ushers 2.0!

I truly believe it was God's plan to place me into Usher Ministry.
I still remember last time when my leader asked me what ministry would I like to join. I actually chose Lights Ministry instead of Usher Ministry as I think that Lights Ministry was a very cool and exciting ministry. Yet to me, I always thought that Usher Ministry was a very tiring and boring ministry. Thus, it never came across my mind at all.
However one day, Yilin actually called me up and said that I'm being recruited into Usher Ministry. I told her that she must have made a mistake as I did not choose Usher Ministry at all, but Lights. Thus, I asked her to double confirm again. Yilin called me again and said that she did not make a mistake because its my leaders that place me in Usher and truly I'm being recruited into Usher Ministry and there will be a Usher Training on the following Wednesday. I was really very sad and disappointed at that point of time. However, my leaders encouraged me to give it a try. Thus, I did.
The following Saturday was already my first duty and I'm in a usher team, called
'Kaleidoscope'. The people there was warm and friendly.
I still remember how's my first duty was like. I was a very quiet and shy little boy then.(HAHAHA) Hence, I was very quiet and looked kind of gloomy on my first duty. It was then Nadine, Gangyuan and Yilin came forward and talked to me. They are very nice people and Gangyuan was the one that teaches and guided me on how and what I should do and I really learnt a lot. They are the ones that I can still remember clearly even till now whenever I tried to reminisce. Thus, my first impression on Usher Ministry was great as crews there are warm and friendly and it was fun and challenging to usher the congregations to their seats. This is where I learnt to speak up and communicate with the people/
From then on, I always looked forward for my next duty! Like what Jian Ming said, Usher Ministry is a 'Training Ground' for all of us. Indeed, this is where I learnt and grew a lot from.
Yes, there are 3 incidents that I still remember clearly and really grew a lot from.

My first incident was when I wore ankle socks for usher ministry for my first few duties during FTMS times and was caught and was disciple by Noni. Thus, he wanted me to bring 2pairs of long black socks the following week and show it to him. I brought it as I treated his words seriously and I showed him. He's very shocked and surprised that I actually remember. This is when Jian Ming knows about it and he gave me a chance to be a Section I/C and to hold a walkie talkie on my next following duty which is the Christmas Eve'06 big event and be in charge of Section 'Beta2' at Parkview Square. I was very excited and tell myself I should give my very best and not disappoint Jian Ming since he entrusted me with one section. This is when I get to be a Section I/C too for events like Christmas Day'06 and Heart Awards'06 and this is where I really grew and learnt a lot. It was a great experience. Thus fellow ushers, I felt that Jian Ming and the Chief Ushers don't just look at your skills in ushering, but even on our faithfulness in those small little things. And treating Jian Ming, the Chief Ushers and Section Leaders words seriously.

My second great experience was FOP'07!

It's held at Singapore Indoor Stadium. And Heart of God Church's Ushers are involved in it! I was very excited then as I never get to usher in such big event when we can usher thousands of people! I still remember I was given a chance to be in charge of 3 sections of 'West'(If I'm not wrong?) side. And I'm able to work with some of the City Harvest Church's Ushers. It was really a great experience as I learnt a lot from the CHC's ushers! Though the congregations are very different from the Heart of God Church members because hoGc members are more cooperative and friendly. Thus, it was kind of hard to usher the congregations there. But it was really a great broke through for me. I learnt to have more patience in handling those problematic congregations and also watch over the 3 sections. It was really fun and exciting and I'm already looking forward for the next FOP'08! Hahaha. I assure you ushers that those who have not usher for FOP before, it'll be a great experience and you guys will really learnt and grow to another whole new level from there!
FOP'08, here we come!

My third incident was on 29th March, End Times Bible Study!
This is the day I really grew a lot and learnt. It's really a training ground for me and I like that. I made quite a lot of mistakes that day. And I was disciple harshly by Jian Ming. Though I'm really disappointed after that but I tell myself that I should learn from my mistakes and grow from there and let not this happen again but not fall. This is where I learnt my mistakes and Jian Ming really showed me my vision for my Point B that I should really aim for and grow. Thus out of this 3 incidents, this 3rd incident really made me grew a lot.
Fellow ushers, I just want to say that correction is not rejection! Accept discipleship from the top and not fall after that. The reason why they disciple is because they care. This is where you can really grow a lot from. Treat every mistakes as a opportunity to grow.

To look back, I actually have come so far. And yes, there's still long journey ahead for me to grow in Usher Ministry. What I can say is, faithfulness! Don't get tired in serving usher and don't treat it as a job, but passion and having the heart. And that's explain, "Ushering People Into Their Destiny". We ushers, are magnanimous! And I never regret to be in Usher Ministry! I should really thank my leaders for placing me in Usher Ministry in the first place. This is where I can really build my character and know many cool and exciting friends from each different zone. And I know Usher Ministry is a never-ending learning process and journey, there's still a lot things for me to learn from all of you guys. Let us work together and be ready for Usher Ministry 2.0!

Hey ushers!

Let me share with you my journey since i joined this Usher Ministry!

My first visit to Heart of God Church was on 3 July 2005!! It's was the 1st Sunday of the month!
That was still in FTSM. Well this is not so much important, whats the most important is that, the moment that the lift door open and i'm about to step into church.. I can hear 2 ushers at the Glass Door with their loud vloume saying "Hi! Welcome to Heart of God Church!!!" Sound familiar? Haha.. When i hear that i felt really like a home to me. It was a feeling that i never felt before in my whole life, event in my own family. Then i was telling myself.. Hey how come i got this home feeling and is like a place where i really belong too. And at the very day of my visit, I got Save! Praise God!
"So ushers, for those of you think that you're just a normal usher, doing ushering at the White Gate or Glass Door means nothing much, i want to tell you that you are wrong. You are impacting somebody life, you never know if the person will get save on that very day because of you.. Especially the New Friend who came" Amen?

Since after that Usher Ministry left a great impression of me, and i went to ask my leader what is Usher Ministry all about? After my leader told me about it, the next thing i know is that i told my leader that i want to join Usher Ministry! And continue the next thing i know is that I'm in Usher!!! I remember i had to go for usher training and was trained by Roy (Ex Head Usher) i can still remember the training was around 2 hours, after 1 hour+ roy give us a break for only 5 mins or something.. and i was late after the break, i was asked to sit at the side and roy ask: Why are you late after break? i had nothing to say, cause i late for no reason. Then roy share with me and the rest of ushers say: you are late for 5 mins and there are 4 person wait for you, because you are late, if you use the 5 mins to add to the 4 person time = 20 mins. In the 20 mins a lot of things can be done. (Hit hit) So from then on, i learn not to be late.

So it comes to my first duty on Dec 2005! When i was on my first duty, i still don't know what to do and how to usher people to their seats.. So i was attach with 1 of the older usher to teach me everything about ushering. And i really feel so warm and love by the usher who had so many patient and willing to teach me things that i don't know.

If you all know, i use be a person who don't really talk a lot, its because of Usher that make me come out of my Comfort Zone and my chief usher who talk to me and challenge me to step out of my comfort zone to talk to the people. I remember after a 3/4 months of ushering in church, we were told that we will be doing usher for FOP 2006 in Singapore Indoor Stadium. That was the first time in my life ushering 50000 over people, i was telling myself "like that how to usher sia.." Then when 1st day of FOP come and the door are open i really get to experience ushering different type of people, it was a big explosion for me then. This is my 1st impactful experiences. Slowly from there, i catch the Heart of ushering.

Also how i become 2 i/c, it was after my 1st year in Usher Ministry. I was told that i be having meeting with Jian Ming, then i was thinking what did i do wrong? haha.. (actually nothing) During the meeting jianming say we are 2 i/c now, then my response; huh? why? its because we catch the Heart behind Usher Ministry.
"Guys, once you catch the Heart behind it. You will fly like never before you think you can be"

The 1st time i lead usher was at parkview leading a section of ushers. It's was a great great experiences for me to have the chance to lead and use my potential to to serve God. I also want to thanks Jian Ming for letting me take 1section and lead ushers. From then on i have been faithfully doing the small things which my chief usher or jian ming ask me to do.

At last.. Now i want to move on from Good to Great SL! And by of this end of this year, i want to become Chief Usher! =P "...endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ" 2 Timothy 2:3

Hi everyone!
I joined Usher not long ago. I think was this year January.
When I first knew that I was in Usher Ministry, I was shocked and excited! (:
I was excited because that was my first ever ministry in Heart ofGod church and I really looked forward to my first Usher Duty. More than that, 2 of my good friends (Adeline&Isabel) who are in F2,in the same team as me are also in Usher Ministry! I was shocked because I had forgotten how I got into Usher Ministry. I think Ushering is really cool even though I'm a new crew and had only been on Usher for 2 times only. I remembered my first Usher duty was on the 1st March 2008 which was not long ago. On that day, I really hoped that my duty would be standing at the glass door to Usher people in for service. I thought that it would be really awesome to welcome people in with a smile saying " Hi welcome to Heart of God church ! ". Even before I was in Usher Ministry, I already thought of how great it would be if I could stand there for my Usher duty. However on that day, my duty was in the Auditorium. I was quite upset. But it was then I realised that having my duty in the Auditorium was equally as great and fun! (: I was even more happy when I knew that my sister's duty is also in the Auditorium and I was in the same section as her ! During my second Usher duty which is in ZoneF made me even love Usher more. My sectional leader Jazreel was really great and friendly! Whenever I have questions about anything, she would always answer to my questions. During my ZoneF Usher Duty, I was really shocked by how my sister work. She is really fast in everything! It was then I knew that my sister really enjoyed her Usher Duty. I was determined. I believe that if my sister can , I also can. I also learn that we should always give things a try before doing anything we think we cannot do from my first duty on the 1st March 2008. I remember because service had ended and all the ZoneF ushers were busy doing their own duty. Some of us had to keep the chairs after service ended. I thought the chairs were super heavy and keep one chair at a time in a slacking mood. But when I saw the other ushers from ZoneF working so fast and they at least kept 2 chairs at a time, I went to ask Priscilla who was nearby if the chairs were heavy. She said it was okay and by carrying 2 chairs at a time was faster. So I've decided to give it a try. At first, it was quite heavy. But later, it was okay. Although this is a very small matter, but this actually helped me a lot. Even though these are small little things, I really learn a lot. I would like to stay on in Usher Ministry because whenever I step to Heart of God church and all the Ushers who are in black were all smiling and had a friendly look made me felt super welcomed. And I too want people to feel the same as me! (: I would really like to grow a lot in Usher Ministry and I believe I still have a lot to learn. I would like to become a SL by the end of o8 like my SL Jazreel.

I will always make an effort for my Usher duty everytime because it is not just a duty to me. It is more than a duty. (:

hi everyone

i join usher in 2003 at the time my leader put me in usher BUT i grow to love usher more and more. my first time doing usher is very different from now. In the past very one can wear anything they want and we all can prepare the service in 30min time. That we will have a long break for 20 min or so. want we usher people into the sit we also don't know who is the usher. After we all went to FTMS usher ministry have grow to a whole new ministry in church. At that time jacky ah cai and noni was make usher a very fun place for me and all 4 of us grow from there.

My first incitent

On that day is was a big day. i was ushering one of the section in park view squard. in park view the place is very big and we want to block out all of the bad and very bad sit and let the people who are early to have a better view. after 30 to 45min(i think so is that time) i see people is still coming and coming in and my section at that time was 3/4 filled. i did not ask roy can i open the bad sit for people to sit and i just tell one of the usher to open it. After some time roy came over and disciple me. because the other side only 1/2 fill. in this incitent i learn to wait for instruction
and ask befor i do anything. because i have make everyones life diffcult on that day but luckly the service run smoothly.

My 2nd incitent

In my 2nd incitent it was in VBS on that day i was leading. i have a mix feel the day befor i was excited and seared but in the end i still fall asleep. on the next day i went to church prepare and ready. i started very well till pastor say he want to take away 2 chair from each row at section A and C. luckly shan yong have save me he tell me though this. but i still did wrongly myself. i feel so discourage at that time but i still need to run VBS. i did mistake after mistake but i learn alot on that day. the thing that incapt me is that i don't think at that time it was me i feel that God is helping me thought i also feel that i have grow 2 whole new level on that day.

In usher i want to be a section leader in security and run service like a chief usher. i will keep on growing in usher

Helloha all ushers !

I first joined usher in around November 2006 ! It was when my leader that time asked me which ministry i want to join and after hearing all about the ministries,something just told me to join usher though i know i must arrange chair and everything and i'm a lazy person but i knew it was God. I went through Jian Ming's usher training and through that i realise usher is not just a simple ministry to serve man ! And all of us must catch the heart behind ushering people into their destiny ! My chief usher then,Pei Shan,said i looked fierce and my hair then was blonde ! That sums up the reason i seldom do glassdoor over at FTMS house and so i was placed in between sections and to usher people into their seats. All i know was to greet them and nothing else,and the courage to approach the congregation wasn't there yet. But as time goes by,and observing the section leaders and chief ushers doing things/ushering,i began to catch it,and slowly beginning to approach the people,go up to them bodly !

The first incident/experiences was during the desire meeting,i actually forgot all about it ! And i know it's all about the desire ! That afternoon,when i was with my cg outside the lift at FTMS house,Jian Ming walked out of the lift and asked me why didn't i go the desire meeting and all i could reply was : i forgot . And Jian Ming just said orhokaylo. And that left me thinking for the whole day : Whr's my desire ?
And soon,i begin to catch the heart again,and turned up for the next desire meeting which was very early in the morning and we reached church even before it's opened ! Through this incident,i understood what's being faithful in the little things.
Another experiences was when i went through a training to catch ppl falling under the prescence of God,the first thing which went into my mind was,i'm so skinny,why am in this training,but how many of your know that the leaders always give their ppl chances ? Hahaha,so we went through the training and were all ready for ministry on the last day of vbs,and through that day,i caught God's ppl touched by Him,and i was actually very afraid and for fear i can't catch them properly,my heart trembles like mad but soon as the peace of God flows in,i felt God's strength in me and began doing his great work and that day i went up to another level. I may be small in size but still able to do it !
The last experiences was during the Ignite conf'08,every ushers were on duty for at least two days,and for me,the same too,haha. So it was scary ushering sucha great crowd in our church for the first time and we had to set up the chairs on day before it and it was everyone's first time,things were messy everything but the chief ushers never fail to solve it. And i was asked to do usher for the third day of ignite,and i know the more number of crews,the more effiecient we can run the service,i was actually tired ushering for two days already and having to wake up early in the morning,i hesistated. But i heard God's voice telling me to give my best and so i turned up for usher on the last day of ignite ! Moreover,i had to work the nightshift aft ignite that day till the next morning,i decided to give in my best ! And i got the chance to hold the walkie that day for the first session which was a great experience,all chief ushers were out and all the SLs,it was great working with them and through the ignite conf,i got the chance to be the runner of cherie and she told me to do alot of things,settling this and that and making sure of everything,settling the ppl down and she taught me how to control the crowd and not let the crowd control me and indeed i've learnt it ! And i believed that through the whole ignite conf,i went up to another level,though i was tired aft everything but the joy of the Lord never fails to come (:

After ushering for a year plus,i looked back and see how much i've grown in ushers and the things i learnt in usher was abundant,ive got no problems talking to people now,approaching them,talking to strangers. What made me stayed on at first was because of friends but soon after,i see the usher crews so passionate serving God,never fail to give their best ( 200 % ) each services and their faithfulness,i stayed on and continue serving in usher ministry. We may be tired at times,the need to wake up early for ushers, and staying back and the need to be on time,mints and deo and prayup texts,all the lil faithful things,brings out a whole new character in you,now i got no problems reaching on time for usher duties and i admit that i always have problems to be on time for duties ! Usher minitry also brought us closer with one another,got to know more ppl in church other than our cg and zone,and to work as a team,we must really be bonded tgt ! We must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ !

At the end of 2008,i see myself as a SL and not just a normal SL but a SL operating at a chief usher level,giving my best and reproducing SLs,and spread the joy of serving God,and the ppl,bring them to their destiny,letting them catch the heart behind what we're doing as usher ministry grow and going through breakthroughs after breakthroughs !

Hi everyone, this is Clarence here!!

I first joined usher in June 2006. I joined usher then because my leader asked me what ministry i wanted to join and I did not know, so she suggested usher. At first I was quite reluctant but agreed in the end. I remembered the first the usher training i attended which was held by Jian Ming, I was really scared and was quite lost. I still remembered there was one part of the training where everyone had to be a glass door usher and say "hi, welcome to Heart of God Church!" Everyone being the first time in an usher training was quite shy and scared and we all said it quite softly. Jian Ming even told us like not to raise our hands to high or unnaturally if not it would be quite weird. He also told us not to stand like posing too. It was indeed quite funny. For me, joining usher really made me feel uncertain about many things because I was afraid that I was not able to cope as I knew as an usher, I will need to talk to people I did not know. But as time passed and as I grew in usher ministry, I learnt to be more bold and confident. Right now, going up to someone whom I have never seen before and picking up a conversation with him or her is no problem at all. This also helped me in my people work as I find it easier to talk to the new friends which come everyweek.

The 1st incident which really left an impact on me was my 1st few times doing usher. At that time, my chief usher was Cherie. During the duty, I was a few minutes late for duty because I left the previous place late. It was during that duty where I received my first discipleship in ministry. It was during that discipleship where I realised that behind all the fun and ushering, discipline is also very important and that being late is a no-no because it wastes other people's time and the importance of being on time. After that discipleship, I made it a point to be at least 15 mins early for duty.

The 2nd incident which I really remembered clearly was the first duty which I did since coming back from being taken down due to AE. It was the first time I was ushering in Singpost with the new and current system in place. I felt quite lost and uncertain as I was not sure of what the new systems would be. I was assigned to do offering for B1 that day and during offering, I stood up and went forward to give offering. Thinking I did everything right and ok, I gave out the offering envelopes. When I went to the other side to collect, I realised that I had actually forgotten to give an offering envelope to the 1st row. In my state of panic, I collected the rest of the offering envelopes and went to the back of the audi. During worship, Charleston went to the back of the audi and asked why the offering envelope was given out to the first row and after clarification, everything was settled. After usher debrief that day, I was discipled and I felt quite bad for not clarifying my doubts with my chief ushers and sls for the things I was not sure of. During the next duty, to make sure I remember to give out offering to the 1st row, i wrote in pen on my palm "1st row offering". It was actually quite a funny sight.

The last incident which I really remembered was not while on duty but while I was off duty. A member of our church actually came up to me and told me that my ushering was very good and that I really helped them alot by helping them get seats and all that. I really felt that I have done my job well and felt quite happy having to receive such a compliment. But me being me, I just said," Thanks."

After ushering for more than 1 yr, my passion for ushering really grew. At first, I quite dreaded doing usher because it meant I needed to talk to people whom I did not know but as time passed, I grew in confidence and boldness and I begin to like to usher more and more. I remembered during Create 2006, the ushers even got the chance to let off poppers and throw big balls around. The poppers were quite big and when we let them off, it actually had a bit of a recoil. Shan Yong and Jeremy had the honors of letting off the mega big one. Being in usher for more than 1yr, I really made more new relationships with my fellow brothers and sister in Christ. I would not have gotten to know people like Jacky and Gang Yuan and Ah Cai and many many others if I did not join usher. I feel that the main reason why I stayed on at first was because of the strong relationships formed, but as I continued ushering, I developed a love for usher. Seeing people being ushered into their seats and seeing no empty seats in the congregation gave me a sense of satisfaction.

At the end of 2008, I would probably be hairless or have very very very short hair. Yup, thats right. I am going to army. But despite this, I believe I am still able to serve in usher to the best of my abilities. Whenever I get to book out every weekend and if my team is on duty, I would want to be on usher. I want to see myself rising up to the level of being not just a good SL but a great SL and if possible, become a chief usher. Over the past year and more of being an usher, I can say that usher ministry has defined me.

Hi guys,
I first joined usher when my leader, Pei Shan put me in usher ministry.
I didn't really know what it was though. I still remembered that it was a saturday when Pei Shan called Jazreel and told her we were in usher. Jazreel told me and she was really excited but i was thinking why she felt this way , so i pretended to be very excited too.
On my first day of usher, i did not bring mints nor deoderant as my usher
i/c didn't asked me to do so. I wore the wrong attire , i wore the one which the youth were supposed to wear. So my usher mate Hui Qi, at that time told me it was wrong and i started panicking. However , my i/c closed an eye since i was a new crew.

On my first duty, i didn't know what to do as i didn't go through usher training before.
So the more i did usher, the more i liked it. Except for the part when we had to pray as i was afraid of praying out. I remembered Mark was my usher i/c and he was really nice , he got things done quickly and he knew always what to do as he planned everything properly already. I really inspired to be and usher i/c just like him.

On the third week or usher, i remembered Jazreel and I were late.
And it was really funny. Jazreel and I were neighbours, so we decided to go church together. I was upstairs preparing and we Jazreel waited for me for about 3 minutes. The worse part was , we planned to meet at 12.30 when usher started at 1 . and we stayed at Telok Blangah , which was quite far. She arrived at my house downstairs at 12.42 and i reached at 12.45. So we arrived at dhouby ghourd around 1.30 She gave the excuse that she waited for me a very long time which was only 3minutes ! I was very furious at her at that time . But Jazreel and I now always joke about this and I think its really funny. But i learnt not to be late.

A few months later, i became an usher i/c. My first duty was to lead the usher team for the zone F camp. Nobody guided me and thus, everything went hay wire. My ushers did not listen to me .
Thus, i went to JianMing crying. JianMing discipled them and usher carried on as normal for that night. From that, i learnt that planning usher is really very important as you can keep track of what you're doing. From that week onwards, i led usher properly and with more confidence.
And to train myself not to be scared, I make sure i lead the team in prayer every single service as God will then move.

And just Decemeber last year, JianMing raised Mark, Jazreel and I as section leaders. Yupp, I really feel even though I'm leading ushers, I feel that I'm increasing in leadership quality.
So its really amazing, that through usher, God can use me and I can increase in leadership qualities. And i hope to become a chief usher in ZoneF when I'm around 15.
2 more years to go :D

My 1st usher was in the last week of FTMS house, which was around july. My usher training was fun, but at the same time, tiring. Before I joined usher ministry, I had a choice to choose between usher and video crew! Between the 2, i chose usher because I felt that it was a challenge to me, and I knew that if i joined usher, I would grow to a whole new level in terms of helping and serving others.

My 1st time ushering was during Zone F service. At that time, I was quite afraid as I did not know what to do.I was in Fighters then, and Jazreel took over Mark as the SL. Before the service, we had to set up the chairs for Zone F to sit down. Zone F was not as big as it is now, but we still put in our best effort to do out best to do everything to their best.
After that ushering that week, I felt different as ushering really thought me how to bring myself lower and to serve and help people.

My 1st impactful incident was when Pastor How said that other churches praised our ushers being so warm and friendly towards people. At that time, I felt my spirit go up as ushers had been very well trained by our leaders. I also felt that we have alot to improve on and that we are able to cover up each other's weaknesses in ushering.

My 2nd impactful ushering was just last week, when the Zone F ushers ushered the whole auditorium on a saturday. This proved quite strenuous, but it was a meaningful experience. It was quite tough because I was a SL and there were only 4 people including me taking an entire section. We made a few mistakes here and there, and we were slow in what we were doing. However, we learnt from our mistakes and we improved gradually throughout the ushering. I learnt that we need to put in our best no matter what we do, whether we are ushering a small group of people or a large group. We need to put in our best into ushering people, as every soul impacted is a live saved. When newcomers are so impressed by our works, they will have another reason to come back every week!

I stayed on in usher due to many reasons, one of which is probably the joy and fun serving alongside my other friends and also to see the smile on other's faces when we serve them. This would make me very joyful as I started to enjoy serving others. Even though sometimes, usher was tough and we would get scolded, we knew that it was not just for our own good, but for the people we served as well. When we do things fast and efficiently, we would be able to serve others with more confidence and pride.

What i hope to be at the end of 2008 is that I want to be a SL and lead a section in the auditorium usher. That would be my target at the end of this year.

I first joined usher when I was in Primary 6, hmm, around November 2006! (:
I still remember how I joined usher. I was telling Pei Shan, "wa, the ushers so cool, all dressed in black, i want to join USHER!"
hahaha, then a few days later, I received a call from Pei Shan. She told me that I'm in usher ministry and I can start duty on this particular day. (man, i cant rmb when)
I still rmb when Pei Shan called me, I was walking home with Sili!
Sili and I were really excited when we heard of this news. We jumped man.
And on my third duty, I was late! oh sian.
And it was because I waited for Sili for 3 minutes, and i pushed the blame to her, ha!
We got discipled, and i was really scared at that moment.
Looking back, i realised how selfish i was. But now, I've changed. Heart of God church changed me (:

One of the three incidents which i thought was really a unforgettable one, is the one which I didn't give offering for the First Row at Section B1. ;0
Ohmyohmy, it was really scary. It's the row where the Leaders and Pastors sit. And yet, as a "SL" (at that time), I didnt give the offering envelope! When I was collecting the offering envelopes from B1, Jian Ming suddenly snatched 1 offering envelope from me. At that point of time, i was thinking, how come Jian Ming suddenly like so angry and kan chiong!
Then I realised that it was because i didnt give the offering envelope for the first row.
He discipled Keegan, Aaron and I at the back of the audi.
I almost cried! Cause it was so terrifying. Jian Ming's tone was like, " Why! Why did this happened! "
Can you imagine with me now. hahah.
What led to this incident was miscommunication between Aaron and I. And yes, ushers, learn from this mistake.

As I usher more and more, i began to realised that actually usher ministry is quite exciting and fun! So, i decided to stay on (: [when i was a new crew, the part which i dislike most about usher is ARRANGING THE CHAIRS! lol.]
Oh yes, I want to be a Chief Usher of Zone F when I'm 15! hahaha.

Yo people!
I joined usher ministry during August in year 2005. My first first usher training was with Jian Ming and i still remembered going through usher training in the small small usher room in FTMS house with Ee Loo! It was really stressful as that time, Jian Ming showed us slides of Pastors and Leaders faces and had to remember how they looked like and their names. It was very fun as well! Soon after, I started my first duty in a team called Kaleidoscope! Wah, i tell you ah, super scary!!! I didn't know anyone! But my Chief usher on that day made me feel very warm and welcomed. So firstly, i started arranging the chairs and realised how bad i did! All the rows that i did was VERY SLANTED! haha couldn't help but laugh at myself. However, on my VERY first duty, my whole usher team was discipled that very day. Something happened to the door knob of the usher cupboard and no one took the initiative to tell any of the Chief Ushers that it had fallen off. I still remembered Jian Ming telling me, "Wah, Sabrina, your fist duty then you kana already..". haha it was really very memorable. After which, the other duties followed up with more discipleship in tiny tiny areas which taught me how to be faithful in the smallest things ever. Also, another duty which left me with a deep impression was during one of the communion days in FTMS. We were severly discipled as the whole thing was a disaster. My very own Chief Usher even cried on that day. It was one where I've learnt how to work as a team and not to be an individual.

The final incident was when i was very close to my usher team and i started to learn how my second IC and Chief Usher worked. I observed them and dreamed of becoming a second IC myself. That was when i was even more motivated to learn. I then went through quite a bit of severe discipleship by my leader in my own personal life as I went after titles and positions. During the period of changing my character slowly, I was suddenly given a walkie talkie during one of the duties in Parkview sq. I didn't even know how to use it, where's the on button or what channel all those. Then i started to grow from there onwards, learning even more and observing even more. Most importantly, catching the heart of serving. I think the main thing that i've learnt is to be very faithful in the small things, as the church grows bigger, it is even more important! And the aim of every usher isn't to just rise up for the title or position but to actually catch the heart and the burden. Since then, I was an SL in SingPost and i wanna keep growing as an SL. I don't want to be a stagnant SL! I wanna keep learning and catching the heart of serving and leading. I believe that when one is faithful in everything he/she does and has the heart and desire, promotion by God will come.

What made me stay on for almost 3 years in Usher ministry was actually the joy of serving alongside with my respective Chief Ushers and receiving every moment of discipleship. I wanted to keep letting God mould me and to keep growing to a whole new level!

At the end of 2008, i want to be a super super 2.0 SL whereby i can carry the burden of my Chief Usher and be zai! Eventually, rising up to be a Chief Usher! Not gonna rely on myself as i've got loads of things still to learn from Head and Chief Ushers but gonna rely on God!

Hi everyone!

Remember I went for usher training around August and it was Shanyong, who trained us.
I was very excited, partially due to the sharing about ushering, from Jianhong.

At that time, I was in Spartans, and not know so many people in church yet. But yet, I just got led by the Holy Spirit to come for the 1st usher duty, in FTMS House. That's when I start to know Michelle Yao, who made me didn't feel left out, when I was too early for the reporting time. That was also the beginning of my growth! Just after the first duty, I've learnt alot from Peck Hoon, Michelle Yao, and of course Peishan, who's the Chief Usher of the that day. I really feels that ushering is so fun. But just like what Peishan said that overtime the "fun" will just fades if you don't catch the heart of ushering in church, as you'll get tired of it. She even shared with us that its normal for a new usher to be so excited about ushering. However in order to be a great usher, let's not make it become a routine, but always a learning point, for every single duty.

Before I know, my second or third usher duty was already ushering in FOP!!!! I thought, it was IMPOSSIBLE! I HAVE NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO USHER IN FTMS HOUSE, MOREOVER 1000PEOPLE??!! Fortunately, it just happen that JianHong was the one leading my section, that I dared to ask him for guidance and I tried to imply whatever I've learning though the last 2 duties. It was almost every single moment, before the gates are open, when I can find JianHong that I asked him questions! I think I was to nervous, yet trying to hide it from being shown. Smiling as ushering people who are quite fierce, was really a challenge to me. Frankly speaking, I just thought that it was a GREAT experience, but never thought of becoming an SL. Turning back and think about it, I was quite impressed of my performance that day, leading people to their Destiny! It was really a great stretch for me, as I was quite new.

I not only wanna just lean on my own strength, but also God's strength!!

If I'm not wrong, the following usher duty, I was given the walkie! I was like
"HUH????? Why me? What to do with it?!"
So I was the SL for ET, even though I was not aware that walkie was meant for SLs until my name was stated as SL in the schedule. I always thought that it was only meant for easy communications, and ushers will take turn to use it. Not daring enough to communicate through the walkie, I would say the number of times whereby I used the walkie, was countable with my 2 hands, or even maybe 1 hand! Hahah! That day, I've learnt to start communicate through the walkie, as that's what it's for. So I made a stand that I'll use the walkie to communicate with the top.

Just 2 days ago, I just lead usher for End Times Bible Study!!!! That day, Noni really gave me opportunity to "show what I've got! Everything was run quite smoothly, with the alertness and the abilities for us, Chelsea and me, to having and carry out the spotaneous solutions in a crisis. But overall I think its quite fun. After the whole ushering, Jianming, our Head Usher, told me that its good!!! Hahah! He even told me that I've improved over time, from the 1st time leading on Vacation Bible Study 2008! Frankly speaking, I was very happy about it! XD
I've realised how much I've grown since the first time I started ushering till now!
I believe there'll be more things to come! I'm so excited when I know I can just grow in this ministry!

There may be problems coming up your way, but always be bold and overcome it!

I'm gonna rise up to be a spiritual ZAIZAI SL by April, and a Chief Usher by June! As I observe how the Chief Usher think and operates. :D

Hi Everyone!

I joined usher ministry last year in July and have loved it since then!

The very first time I did usher duty, I was quite scared as I wasn’t sure what I’m supposed to do. Even as I was on my way to church, I started to panic. Another usher was assigned to teach me everything which made me less afraid. Haha! I was also amazed at the way the ushers set up chairs! They were so detailed and they made sure all the chairs were straight! It was definitely something that changed my viewpoint about arranging chairs! As a congregation, we just come and sit on the chairs. But we never know how much details and effort was put into setting up all the chairs!

Also, ushering for FOP left a great impression on me. It was my second time doing usher duty when I ushered for FOP. It was the first time I was ushering so many people. The fear that I initially had turned to excitement as the congregation started coming and I started ushering people. It was a great experience which taught me a lot on the practical part. Haha, all thanks to weichao and shermaine who were there to guide me along!

There was also a period of time that I kept doing ET. I remembered doing white gate like 3 times in a row! It was really fun and I enjoyed doing it, though i disliked the hot sun. The experiences doing ET made me realize that even as a white gate usher, I played an important role. I remembered once when Jianming did white gate with me. It was a really great experience and Jianming taught me how to provide the people with first class service and to greet every single person you know! He also taught me the importance of interacting with the congregation and making the new friends feel welcome.

Haha! I really love to serve God in usher ministry and I look forward to learning more things in the future!

Ushered into my destiny (:

Hi everyone, I'm Nadine and today I would like to share with you about my journey in Usher Ministry! Hahaha. Machiam testimony.

Anyway, I first came to church on 11th December 2005. Of course, me being me, I was so good that I even came for the countdown on 31st December. And on that day, usher ministry impacted me!

You must know that FTMS had a very small audi. During the first part which was CREATE, no chairs were set up because there were just no space. Then we had about 15-20 mins break before we returned for Heart Awards. And within that short period of time, I see so many people walking to and fro, from the Art Gallery to the audi. And they just kept carrying chairs, putting it down, and repeated this process. And some of them were still in their Create outfits! I was like, WOAH, who are these super cool people mannnnnnnnnnnnn. And of course they were our wonderful....

USHERS!!!!

And then I told Samantha Foo, my CGL, that I wanted to join usher ministry! So I started my first duty on 16th April 2006, which was also Easter Sunday! It was just amazing with such a crazy bunch of people. I remembered Red Rain soon came and it was like my 2nd - 3rd duty. Super nervous. I was only the gate usher but I knew it was an important role because I would determine if the flow is good..

My first Chief Usher was none other than... Tan Jian Ming! And my first 2nd IC? Cherie Low! Haha.

Jian Ming was so nice to me on my first duty! He assigned one usher to me to take care of me, that usher was Cheryl Chan! (Yes, that one from Zone F. Haha) Then we had some time before doors opened and he kept asking me to go drink water! Hahahaha. Really felt so loved as a new crew!

Of cos I learnt many things along the way... I strongly believe that if I was not in Usher Ministry, I would not rise up as fast. Usher Ministry taught me the importance of passing down the right info, to think for people, to be alert & sharp..

I remembered my first duty as a Chief Usher. I was super scared the days before. I was afraid I won't do a great job! Come on lah, we're also humans!!! Of course will be scared too! Haha. But I really prayed and God told me to step out of my comfort zone, and go to a new level. That was a breakthrough not only in ministry, but my own life as well (:

Now in this new place, God has really brought us to a whole new level, a professional level. But you know what, we still have the usher family feeling. That's what I like about Usher Ministry. When we usher, we chiong, people would think, they're just so good at what they're doing. But when we play.... Muahahaha. Everyone beware! We just go CRAZY!

Looking forward to Usher Ministry 2.0.

We are the biggest ministry, we have the coolest, so professional attire and most importantly, we have BLOG!!! Don’t you think we are just so exciting and so happening?! (:

When I first joined...
I joined usher back when we were in Henderson! I was one of the Henderson’s ushers together with noni they all, we will wear anything we like to do usher! Usher life in Henderson was simple but back then, there’s already fun and love. I still remember we will sit in the cry room at the back of the auditorium during service and Pastor How always say behind the pulpit that we, the ushers are like fish in the water tank. Haha!

Why and how did I feel...
Mine was a bit different because I chose usher ministry myself! (:
I was reading a Christian book then I read about serving God and the book says we serve God by serving man! Then I told my leader at that moment that I want to join a ministry! Then I looked around to see what ministry serve people most...then I saw ushers coming down to church early, rushing and yet arranged the chairs neatly just for the people to sit! Then after service, they will have to pick up litters, flyers and keep back the chairs! So I joined this ministry with an excitement that I can serve people!

Experiences...
Like Jianming, I feel that the one experience that I can never forget and I really enjoyed myself is during ignite ‘05! Though we were all very tired every morning but at least we were very happy! Happy serving! We felt like an army, we chiong the battle together! I can remember during the break, when you open the usher room, you will see many ushers lying down on one another’s shoulders sleeping. During those 3 days, we were drilled and increased in our capacity to usher 800-1000 people! Though it’s the first time we ushered so many people, we have the attitude that is willing to learn. From there, usher ministry grew in skills and love! Love like a big family! (:

Another experience that I can never forget...It was not a good memory, but I grew another level in my walk with God.
It was our church dedication service! The auditorium was filled with so many people until the ushers don’t even have a place to stand hence we were asked to sit in our usher room. Sitting down in the usher room, we can’t see what’s going on in the auditorium and most importantly, we can’t hear the sermon clearly. Totally NO FEAR OF GOD at all, the ushers begin to chat among themselves, laughing away, play games, do homework and even read the newspaper!!! Pastors, Roy and Jianming were very very angry and disappointed! We have NO respect for God’s Word; we have NO FEAR OF GOD! We could open the usher door so that we could listen to the sermon or the least we could do was to keep quiet and try our best to listen to the sermon. From this, I learnt the fear of God; I learnt to respect God and will never ever allow anyone around me to disrespect God too! If we say we love Him, then we respect Him!
Ushers, even if your bible or notebook are in the ops room, still listen to the Word of God, giving your best attention to Pastor! Best is we should always prepare our notebook and bible, putting them aside before the service.

The last experience that I want to share is one service that I did ushering with Jianming! That day we run the service imagine we were having a soccer match with the devil! At the end of the service, are we going to crash the devil with 10-0 or the other way round?!
Chairs neatly arranged and arranged fast! 1-0 Section B1 filled! 2-0 Second row with good people! 3-0 and so on. During the altar call of that service, many lives were touched by God 10-0!!! We won! We were all very happy! It was a great service, we ushered down God’s presence and ushered people into their destiny! (:

Even though, it’s your 100 times ushering, 100 times carrying the same black chairs, 100 times saying the same old line...we are always on a match with the devil. We got to know that when we are at the field, there’s no turning back but to give our best and win the match!

Usher ministry had grown me from a girl that doesn’t dare to speak loudly, confidently to strangers to someone that can lead the team and run the service. I thought I can’t but God, Pastors and my leaders believe. Ushers, keep your dreams alive! Believe! (:

I have never regretted joining usher ministry!
I don’t mind being a normal crew as long as I am still able to serve my Lord in this ministry. You don’t need a title to serve a great God, no matter what position you are in; you always give your best! Always remember you are doing it for one and only God! I won’t forget my reason of joining this ministry!

usher ministry is the first ministry i serve in when i'm less than one month old as a christian
and frankly speaking, i never thought that i will become an usher!
i remember one day, my leader asked me if i want to join a ministry and what ministry i wana join. at that point of time i wasnt sure what serving in a ministry actually mean so i told her anything. and the next thing i know, im in usher!!
i wasnt sure of what an usher suppose to do and i thought it's another thing in church where i can have fun and learn more things! im absolutely right!
i went for usher training held by Jianming and learn alot of things! how to arrange chairs, how to collect offerings, what to do in case of emergency and also the purpose of an usher.

truly, through usher i really break away from my comfort zone.

i was positioned at the glass door with Winifred for my first duty. and through usher, i really learn how to smile more and greet people even when i dono who are they. in the past, i never smile or talk to stranger at all. but because of usher, i had learn to smile even to stranger. and also in usher i grew to be a better person. i had learn how to discipline myself to bring deoderant and mints for every duty without fail and also wearing the correct attire as they are COMPULSORY!
and even though we always greet people with "hi, welcome to Heart of God Church!", i'm never sick or tired of saying that! it may be the same old sentence, but because of this, you will make people feel welcome!

in usher, we not just on duty for our own services, we are even on duty for FOP, IGNITE which happen only once a year. we will be ushering ALOOT of people there and it's really something not everyday we will be able to do. we will be able to know how is it like to usher so many people. and personally i LOVE it♥! you get to work with different kind of people and it really will train you in what to do if a certain situation arose.

even though usher is a strict ministry, we still had alot of fun too!! there's usher gathering and usher chalet and these really bond every usher tgth! even though till now, i only managed to go for ONE usher gathering, but during that gathering everybody was really having alot of fun! we get to meet people from other teams and also from the adults team! the games we played are CRAZY FUN! haha! i didnt know how much fun ushers gathering can get until i went for one myself and experience how much fun they were having!

why did i stay on in usher? 1.the friends i made in usher are just AWESOME! great bunch of people to hang out with. 2. my chief ushers really impacted me, teaching me alot of things, caring for every one of the ushers. 3. in usher, you had alot of fun. 4. i learnt to discipline myself in usher. 5.USHER IS JUST GREAT! i don need anymore reasons for me to stay in usher~!

at the end of 2008, i wana do more things in usher! grow in usher! serve God more! serve people more!

Wow, Jian ming post is so..........POWER!!! Now is my turn...

Usher ministry is the most happening ministry and the biggest ministry in church. Beside training up people, we get to know a lot of people. And how many of you know why i join usher ministry? haha. Here is my story...

I first join usher when i was 12 years old when we are still in henderson. I was just transfer from children church to teens cell. (As known as Youth service) An adult came and asked jacky and I if we want to be an usher. Last time my english was super bad and I don understand what the adult was talking so i just shake my head and *Tink, i was in usher ministry. Nice right?

Last time we are still wearing short and t-shirt for usher. (Not like today, so cool) And the funny thing is that everytime, when it comes to offering, I will get myself ready and be the first one to go to Pastor! Is like who ever take offering from pastor will get prize. And every week without fail, Jacky, Gang yuan Ah cai (aka Jonathan) & I will be helping out in usher. Not to forget Wei liang, Yi lin & Nicholas Sim. That was when we are in henderson.

After henderson, we move into the city FTMS house! And that's when Roy is the head usher at that time. And we are there, usher ministry really go up another level. We begin to change our attire into full black. And we have usher training where Roy teach us how to usher and talk to people. (Btw, when we are in FTMS, my english has improved. So don think my english is still weak =X)

Journey in FTMS:

When we are in FTMS, we do not have Section Leader but we have 2nd IC. Pei shan & I was the first batch of 2nd ic. Last time Pei shan & I were in the same team. Of course there is other people as 2nd IC also. When I first became 2nd IC, I was super excited. We went through 2nd IC training. When I was a 2nd IC, the one thing i have is initiative. Everytime when the Chief usher need to do something, I will be the first one to offer help. When the Chief usher ask who want to do this, I will count in my heart for 3 seconds, if no one want to do it, I will rise up my hand. But of course if you take the task, you will get disciple a lot because you sure make mistake. That's when we grow. Much is given, much is required. And I always told myself that I need to be faithful in small things. Whatever the Chief usher says, I must do it. So in FTMS, I really got discipled a lot. Of course I'm sad about it but, I keep on growing because I know whatever I get discipled, that's when I will grow. But there is one season when we lack of Chief usher because some of the Chief usher left the church. How many of you know that in HOGC, we always rise up people? And that's when Pei Shan, Cherie & I became Chief usher. And is a whole new level for me.

Wow, I can keep going on and on. Come to think of it, it's been a long journey & I'm really excited about the next few years! I believe the next generation will always be better. Usher keep going for your dream. Keep your dream alive! Be faithful. God's sees all things.

Why are you in Usher ministry? Because is God's plan.

God did not put you in usher ministry to enter the race, God put you in usher ministry to finish the race well...

Heart Of God Church Usher Ministry

WELCOME TO USHER BLOG!(:

Usher Ministry is a cool ministry(:

Well, before i tell you more about my experience in Usher ministry, let me share with you how i came into this ministry(: Like many of us, i joined Usher is because one fine day, some one whom i never knew before call me up and told me to report for Usher duty that weekend. And this person is none other than our ex Head Usher, Roy.P.S This happen in the year 2004 back in Henderson days.

At first, I was very scared because at that time I know nothing and what I'm going to do. But of course, when i reached, there were people who taught me how to Usher. Well I can still remember it was Roy, Jeremy Lim, Jacky Lim, Jonathan Koh and my brother Gang Yuan who taught me how to arrange the chairs and it was definitely fun!

Thou in Usher Training Jian Ming always say, "Usher is a Strict Ministry" Well I can tell you that, it is a strict ministry BUT we are also a fun ministry! WHY? Cause there are events such as Usher Chalet, Usher Gathering! Truly in these time, we really bond as a ministry! There are also times when Ushers bond together as a team is when Usher Ministry is in the season of Usher Challenge!

Above and beyond all the fun, i have truly grown as a person through Usher Ministry. Through all the strictness in the Ministry, i have learnt to discipline myself and force myself to do things that will be difficult for me such as giving up my resting time to report for duty on time in the past!

There are a few reasons to why I said that Usher Ministry is a cool Ministry, firstly like I've said, it is strict but fun! Secondly is the discipleships that I had. through all the many many discipleships, I can say that i have really grown a lot as a person in terms of character, attitude.

Also, Usher Ministry gives me many exposure to large crowds, for example, ushering in FOP- Festival Of Praise yearly and Ignite conference yearly! From these exposures, i grew in capacity in the area of Ushering large crowds.

Every time we hear people say, Christianity is not a bed of roses, well it is true in Usher. Because there will be time when the Chief Ushers disciple and yes it may be painful, but if you take it and run, you will grow!(:

By this year end, I want to see myself doing more things for the Ministry(:

I feel personally, in Usher, we just got to do it! Even if we are very very scared, we can trust God cause HE is our father in Heaven! AMEN! Phil 4: 13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" Have this in mind every time when you are scared(:

Someone once said this before "If you want something you never have before, do something you never done before!" Like wise, if you want to be a Chief Usher one day, you got to start to do some thing that you never done before!

Dear Ushers,

Wow. Let’s get started with this exciting entry competition that Nadine came up with! Nadine is forever full of great, funny, extraordinary and all-powerful ideas.

Usher Ministry is about serving, the key to receive discipleship, to change oneself, building your character, to catch the fruit of the spirit = our character and attitude, love, peace, joy, patience, faithfulness, kindness, goodness, self control, gentleness, etc.

I first joined usher ministry when I was 16 years old and I’m 20 years old this year. I will be “celebrating” my 4^th year of ushering in Heart of God church this year. Indeed it had been a great journey serving God in this ministry for the last 3 years. I learnt so many things as an usher.

Background:

Like most of you, I joined this ministry because my leader put me in this ministry. Pastor How. It was Pastor How who put me in this Ministry! How many of you want to know how did it happen?

Before I joined usher ministry, I was serving in the Sound Ministry and on the worship team. It was only when Pastor How noticed that I love ushering. I remembered clearly when the church was like only 100 people small and I was on sound duty at the sound console, mixing the sound, etc. As the doors are open for the 100 people to enter the auditorium, I started ushering people even when I was at the sound console. Pastor How noticed it and decided that I had an eye for usher ministry.

So I joined Usher Ministry as a Chief Usher.

The very first thing that I learnt from Pastors about usher ministry is to learn how to run usher ministry. I still remembered those long hours at pastors house discussing about usher ministry, the attire, processes, structure, etc. It is the making of who we are today. (Yes..we decided in wearing black attire at pastors’ house!)

Today, I learnt so much more about what it takes about running usher ministry and I’m in the process of coming up a list of things about “What it takes to run Usher Ministry?”

Honestly speaking, there’s so much that I see and learn in Usher Ministry. It will be never ending if I’m going to start sharing about all my experiences and incidents. I will just share ONE! So that I will be penalized from this competition! (:

Experience:

Ushering at Ignite conference with 800-1000 people in Year 2005. This is the most exciting duty ever. For 3 days, we reported at 7am every morning and did ushering until 11pm for 3 days and 3 nights. It was a non-stop ushering. We will wake up at 5am and sleep at 2am every night.

It was through this experience, I started to increase in my capacity and abilities to lead and usher 1000 people. I remembered that Pastors always share with us that we can only be a church of 1000 if we operate at a church of 1000 today. We must be pregnant in the spirit. Ushering for Ignite Conference’05 was like a preparation for where we are today. We are not struggling with our normal services now because of the breakthrough we experienced few years ago.

Today, as we do ushering, we must begin to see ourselves operating at a church of 3000. So that when 3000 comes soon, it will not be a problem for usher.

If you ask me what’s the greatest experience ever, the answer is that the greatest experience in my ministry is that I begin to see people seeing their destinies and walking towards their destinies in God. This is the greatest experience.

Through this experience, I remembered that many people are walking towards their destinies in God, even the ushers.

Shan Yong was still a new crew when he ushered 1000 people! Today, he’s one of our Chief Usher in this ministry who just ushered 1800 for the recent conference.

Lim Jia xin – A great Team Leader in Zone F. She was once an usher. I remembered clearly that she was only Primary 6 when she was on duty and during the ushering at the conference, someone older in the congregation started to make fun of her and make things hard for her as she ushered. Never despise youth!! I got some of the Usher ICs and Securities followed me and we confronted the guy who was making fun of Jia xin. Afterward, we found out that the guy was just a new Christian, so we forgive me and taught him.

Today, Jia xin sees a new destiny that she walking towards for God in Zone F. This is one of the greatest joy in usher ministry. You don’t know what our God is up to sometimes but definitely it’s good for He loves us.

Jeremy Lim – One of our always on duty Chief Usher! Seeing him grow up in this ministry is the greatest joy. From a normal crew who runs up to the stage to collect offering (within 3 seconds) from pastors in Henderson days, taking charge of one section in FTMS days to today, commanding, planning and guiding the ushers how to fit themselves in this ministry.

Arrhh.. I can really just go on and on. Maybe when I’m not so busy, then I will share more with all of you. I will just end of with these.

Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to inspire some of you.

But I am thankful that

I am better than I used to be.

Hi usher,

14th Dec is my birthday!!! I am 10 years old as a christian & in HOGC! I am so excited about the future. Time really fly man. And I'm really happy to be in HOGC. And I have been in usher ministry for 6 years!!! haha! (Old usher !!!-_-) I just want to say that in this 10 years with God, A lot of things happen in my life. And in all this year, I have overcome lots of problem too. And looking back now, WOW, i have come so far. you know guys, why not you all look back and see how far you have come. And you will comfirm be shock that you have change a lot. I can't wait for another 10, 20, 30, more years. I'm prepared. My future is really going to be great with God.

Hi fellow ushers!

These few months have been very exciting, usherin the people and seeing souls being planted in church.

Its a privilege to be an usher as you get to witness salvations. every week we share the joy of our Psts and leaders in church attendance.. "ah did we breakthrough? did we break 700??"
"How many chairs do we have to put this week?" Pure anxiety of the church attendance and not just heeding the instructions of the chief ushers.

Thinking about it, ushers have the privilege to count the number of people every week. We may not get the actual attendance but the rough gauge is first in our hands. Joy of breakin through new numbers weekly just excites me.

Week in week out, "hey i have not seen him before. heyhey who is she ah.. intro me leh!" Ushers at the white gate literally usher these new people into their destinies.
2 months after someone is planted in church, come to think of it, 2 months before it was the ushers who play a simple yet impactful role in the spiritual realm by just saying hi to them.

Man! What a great privilege to be an usher!

I remember Samantha foo shared with me before, even if you were to be a TL for life, be a great and dependable one! I'm saying even if you were to haha. The definition of great TL; a leader who does his or her job well, his/her leaders do not have to chase them for people work.. but instead they provide their own solutions to their problems, prempting every possible problem that may come their way. Definition of dependable; when your/any leader wants to find a leader, you will come to his/her mind.

And it applies to ministry as well. it is set in my heart, since im in it, why not give my best, just throw myself in. i may never be a chief/head usher, but i want to be a great and dependable usher!

I cannot share with you how excited i am everytime i see people rising up, people start to serve in church.. the joy of newly planted integration worshiping their hearts out.. but let me tell you something, you and i are part of all these. because that very moment that this new friend walks into our premises, this is where it all began. and it is not just new friends, but every single one of the people from new friends to the leaders. you dont know how powerful you guys are.. i've been down and discouraged before services. but the very first encouragement i received wasnt from my leaders, but it was the ushers. when they greeted me they seemed to have the "everything's gonna be alright" face. Ushers are the people who bring a smile to the people. Can you see how powerful you are..

we witness as ushers a church that is stucked at 500. we witness as ushers salvations and decisions. right now, we will witness as ushers how heart of God church will breakthrough and march forth to 1000.

LY is here to make this blog alive! Haha. This blog seems to be left for ... (I didn't count how long it has been left alone). Nadine invited me to blog in this blog. So nice to blog here! :)

I'm glad to join this ministry and love to be in this ministry. Usher ministry is the best ministry where I can find the way to go and learn about discipleship. I'm currently in Fighters team. I love this team! :D

From my heart, I can say that this is the best ministry 'cause people from usher ministry can change a lot in their characters and how to control our manners. "IT'S ALL ABOUT DISCIPLESHIP!". For example, there're a lot people from usher ministry who have grown up to become leaders in church not only team leaders but also connect group leaders. One big example is ROY who was Head of Usher Ministry, now is a zone supervisor. I'm hoping to grow stronger to become leaders like them. TRY MY BEST!

From this ministry, I can learn a lot. Last weekend, on Sunday, I was ushering with Spartans to help out. It's great to experience ushering once in other team. I have learnt new things. I was impressed by Jin Hwee. On that day, as I think, she was on the second duty. (If Jin Hwee or any one in Spartans reading this blog, please correct for me. I'm not sure the 2nd or 3rd).

WAHHHHHHHH, she is POWERFUL, man! She's really hungry to learn and hungry to serve! She is so open and willing. WILLINGNESS! I'm so impressed that I want to praise her here. From her, I can know how to improve myself. Now I can learn how to grow to another higher level in serving God and people! Haha. SEE ME CHANGE!

I have been in church for 5 months, in Usher ministry for 4 months. I find that our ministry has been accelerating to be more professional and impressive to the people. We're growing BIGGER!

Just like eve, she started talking to the devil. However she was'nt strong enough and eventually got deceived and tricked by the devil. The bible says the devil is the father of all lies and we are to resist rebuke and refute the devil. Not discuss or contemplate upon the doubts and temptations the devil plants in our minds
So if the devil disturb you again , just refute him with God's word choose to obey God and move on in life (:"

I remember jian ming once shared with some of the ushers after 811 grand opening about having a strong mind and not letting the devil influence your thoughts your way of thinking..

Hey Fighters!

This is a remined that we are doing usher this saturday (13/10/07) I am so excited and happy about it.. Cause i can finally come back to do usher with you guys.. Hey Ushers((:

Now for the church is flowing into a season of Spiritual Hunger!! How is your Devotionals coming along? For myself personally, i learn alot and one of the chapter that impacted me was be a salt in the world!

Just feel like sharing with all of you on what i have learnt(:
Firstly, Do you know that after drinking salt water it will make you thirsty? what do i mean and how can i relate to our life? ha The answer is that when we talk to our fellow new usher mates, after a conversation with a new crew, do they feel more "thirsty" to learn more? And wants to have a desire to be a leader in the ministry(Be it a 2nd IC, Chief Usher of even Head Usher) haha (time to think about it!)

Secondly, salt is a flavour! And when we are Ushering, do we treat it as a thing that we must do or excite the people who is entering into the auditorum to excite them for the later serivce by saying/ greeting them with a big smile and say a loud "HI WELCOME, TO HEART OF GOD CHURCH THIS WAY PLEASE! Hope you enjoy the service later!!" You can be at any position that your chief usher assigned you but will you make a difference or let it just be an ordinary Usher duty that you need to do?

Was just thinking, why not we also share about daily devotions in Usher blog?? It will be cool and everyone get to learn from each other and grow together!

HAHA!! Also lets keep this blog alive!! thou face book is funn.. hhahah!

Festival of Praise is over, now let's head towards Grand Opening!

For FOP I did two usher duties, because well it's my last, might as well as make it fruitful eh?
Sunday, was a total blasttttttttt.

I wanna thank Noni for giving me the opportunity to serve as a SL!
It's a whole new experience between the difference of serving as a normal usher and to be a SL.
I've really gone up to another level!

Noni shared with me the focus, in being a thinker.
We can't always rely on the Chief Ushers or Second ICs to help us. We have to become independent people who think, instead of always running to them for help.

Also, the congregation are very different.
Through the FOP, I've learnt how to handle them professionally and not simply leave them hanging there. Ushers, never say no! We could always work out a solution.

Now, I have to announce in utmost misery, I will be taken down from Usher ministry. ):
AE! All those taking exams, let's really glorify God through our academic results!

Festival of Praise -- 03Aug'07

Hello everyone, testing! here's my first time posting on the usher blog, and today, incidentally was my first usher duty, for the first day of FOP. hahaha. so many the first. If i could i would go into details about FOP, but it is a long day, not that i dont want to share what i've done today, but it is tedious, so all i'm going to share is what really impacted me about today's ushering.

Ushering in FOP is exciting dont you agree? im sure everyone does. but is exciting enough? One thing that really impacted me during pre service is really about getting to know yourself more. what do i mean by that? an example that happened to me was there was this lady who seemed a little lost. so i went up to her and asked if i could help, yet all she replied to me was a curt, NO. ouch. might i add that hurt. Had God not intervened in my life 8 months back, i would most likely have cause a commotion back there. and then it really showed me, what it means, to love someone unconditionally, and be able to take her No, and yet, turn around to her and say ok no problem and thank you. talk about keeping a cool head.

Next, was as per normal, the reservation of seats. even in HOGC services, we also have our reservation of seats. and at times, we just unfortunately have to turn to the people and get them to forgo their reserved seats. It's not easy to try and ask of this favour, and yet remain nice and yet firm at the same time, but i'm sure God put Jian Ming as head usher for a reason. remembering last christmas JM shared about people reserving seats, and he gave 3 words. Address, Explain, Reassure. Address the issue, in this instance, the reservation of seats. Explain why we need them to forgo their seats. And lastly, reassure them that these friends whom they're saving these seats for have seats. Listening to Jian ming share is one thing. thinking and talking about it is another. Doing it, is a totally __________ experience. [sorry la. i really cannot find any words to describe it. haha] the tension to be nice yet firm about it. so the word goes around that we have to open up reserved seats. me and nicholas had to go around and open up the seats, this has to result in us going up to the people and explaining about our situation. Nicholas, i'm very glad to say, did not say, "eh you do the talking and i'll usher the people." what he did say was, "erh, i dunnoe how, can you show me how?" well done nicholas! =] (im sure you all know how it feels. =])

Next was during sermon itself. people generally tend to leave their seats half way during word, and sometimes, it's difficult to usher them back to their seats. There was one woman who had to leave her seat because her son wanted to use the toilet, and she was making a small commotion as we could not return her to her seat. this was due to the fact that her seat was actually in the middle of the block and going in and out would have been very distracting to people around. so pearlene was there, explaining to her about why they could not return to their seats, and if they might want to shift positions, and i mean the woman really kicked a fuss. but pearlene. =] =] =] you really stood firm. =] did i mention that the two people i mention, Nicholas and Pearlene are both "new crew" having joined us only for 1 or 2 months. =] it pays to have Jian Ming as head eh. =] annointing flows down. =]

And i think the last thing which i feel was one of the most impactful things of the night was when i came home and searched for Jian Ming's post on a life of committment vs a life of excitement. The phrase : Life of Excitement = No direction = No purpose = No vision I was thinking to myself, do i see myself doing usher duty here at FOP as exciting or committment? When Jian Ming lead warriors1 that week he shared this, he shared, "are you going to come back here in 10yrs time with the same attitude? or are you going to look at it as something more?" i found myself thinking, "am i going to come back for duty after duty, dragging a half dead body with shuffling feet? are people going to look at me and say, hey, here's someone ready and willing to give all she has for God, or are they going to look at me and say, why is she here with this kinda attitude?" Like what Jian Ming posted, never be comfortable in what you have, but instead, every service, come with a new outlook, a new angle where you can see more possibilities. To not see yourself as a normal usher, for you are never normal. God told me this before, if you want to lead by name, then you are only a name. instead, lead by example, so that even if you dont have a name, you have something to show for it, comparative to those who lead only by a name. We might not be head ushers. We might not be chief ushers. We might not be Second ICs. We might not be section leaders. We might not be section ICs. We might not even be anything by name. but then again, what's more important? our name? or our servitude? I believe all of us are capable of being the next Shan Yong, the next Pei Shan, the next Noni, the next Cherie and even so, the next Jian Ming. BUT! are we going to only be called head usher? or will we step into Jian Ming's shoes? I believe with every ordinary service, we should carry extraordinary expectations. To be able to learn from every service, from our chief ushers, and even from one another.

It's been a great privilege to be working under Jian Ming, most of today's chief ushers, and also with my fellow ushers. =] FOP, literally Festival of Praise shows us, about praising God in our times of need, our hours of darkness when there seems to be no light. I thank God for now, i have been quite dry, and really today's usher has really opened my eyes, and showed me, how He has still lived in my life. and i'm sure all of you can tell i really need to say this coz it's 5 plus in the morning. hahahaha. =] but guys, also, a big thank you. =] for being awesome friends, and also, wonderful siblings in Christ.. =] thanks loads! =]

ATTENTION ALL USHERS!!

I believe many of you might have already known that you will be taken down due to AE on the official date which is 3rd August.

BUT!! Only for Usher Ministry, we are going to extend the dateline until 12th August, as because of FOP and Grand Opening which many of you are going to usher!

So to make clear one thing is that only those that are ushering for Grand opening, your dateline is extended to 12th August.

As for the rest that are only ushering for FOP and are going to be taken down, your dateline is only extended by a week.

So guys! Lets really sieze this opportunity and give our very best and USHER!!! haha, i believe many of you are sad to be taken down but before you leave(temporarily), really REALLY! give your best shot at FOP and Grand Opening!!

Recently I met up a group of people in usher ministry for a meeting. I share with them about:
Life of Excitement Vs Life of Commitment
Just thought of sharing with you.

First of all, it's always good for us to do self-evaluation.
Question: When was the last time you actually evaluate yourself in your walk with God?
So this post will make you do a self-evaluation in your walk with God.

Today, I'm going to share with you about a life of Excitement and a life of Commitment.
Are you living a life of Excitement or a life of commitment.

What I mean by this?
A life of excitement - You are someone who has short attention span. You go with what you feel is good, fun, exciting, entertaining, enjoyable.
A person who live a life of excitement it's like a person who just go with what he/she feels.
"oh..everyone of my friend is playing basketball. it's the "IN" thing now. I shall go master basketball. I want to get into school team. After few months, you get into school team already. Haiz.. it's getting boring. Everyday we are just shooting ball, can't we just play match. For the past 10 trainings, your coach got you do to the same training again. you are bored.
The next moment, your friend share with you about badminton. Oh, aiya..basketball is boring (you quit), i shall join badmintion now.
This is a life of excitement. Trust me, this person will quit badminton after a few months and join another sport. He/she has no direction in life. No vision.
Life of Excitement = No direction = No purpose = No vision.

My question to you: Usher ministry is happening now, there's chalet coming up, FOP duties, etc. you want to come for every usher duty. You give your best in Usher Ministry. You are on form. What if Usher Ministry is not as happening, will you still be serving? You are not on firm. Let's say it's your 500th usher duty.. will you still serve with the same attitude you have during your 1st usher duty?
A life of excitement won't, a life of commitment definitely will.
So are you serving in usher ministry now because you are living in a life of excitement or a life of commitment?

A life of commitment - You are someone who is committed! Committed to everything that you do. You are faithful and loyal to the things you are given. You are someone who won't give up easily. Never give up.
A person who live a life of commitment is someone who will always learn something new or be impacted in every thing he/she does. Example: Usher ministry, he/she will definitely learn something or be impacted after his/her duty. Why? The reason is because he/she comes in with a new expectation whenever he/she serves God. With a new expectation, you will learn as you expect something new.
[How to come in with a new expectation even if it's my 500th usher duty? The key is to tell yourself never be familar with the way things work. Never assume eveything is right. Never be familar with your chief usher or the system on how we work. when we are familar, we will come in with the same expectation because we assume we know how it's going to be like]

Are you living a life of Excitement or a life of commitment?
Live a life of commitment.

Oh.. that day I was talking to one of the ushers who shared with me how she felt after she learnt from this and evaluated herself.
She shared with me that this teaching is really helpful to her. It has help her to really commit herself to give God her 100% in everything she does and it change her to have more perserverance in whatever she do.

HI ALL USHERS!!

Attention pls!!

i've added in a new column at the side of the blog, "Upcoming Usher Duties" !!! It tells you about all the next upcoming duty!! so ushers, please check!!

and therefore there's no more excuse for forgetting duties anymore! and inform your chief ushers beforehand if you cannot make it for duty! WAHAHAHAH! =p

PLAN YOUR TIME WISELY!! so as not to let 2 ministries clash on the same day! i think i remember pastors said this before, "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail!" so plan your time!!

and most impt of all, be accountable to your chief ushers!! if you cannot make it for duty or is clashed with some other ministry, tell your chief ushers in advance so that they can plan! AMEN?

i remember not long ago, i had Dance and i was also on for Usher duty. and i forgot to tell noni about it, in the end i had to run both ministries at the same time and almost saboed the whole team, this is about accountability la people!

i have made this mistake, so guys!! Dun follow my example, but learn from it!! plan in advance! and if there's anything, let your chief ushers know in advance as well. Agreed? ^^

My Vision.

After the service on vision, God spoke to me during quiet time a few nights later that although I may be new, I can also achieve great things if I put my heart and really have faith in Him. And all big things must start small just like how Jesus compared the amazing kingdom of God to an ordinary mustard, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches. This set me to think how I can get started and God told me that a sincere smile is a powerful tool which I can use to soften hearts and impact lives. It is easy being an usher but what distinguishes the Heart of God Church ushers from other ushers is our love for people and God. It does not matter whether you are a head usher or just a new usher like me, for we are in love with God, not just his causes, and that we are all working towards a common goal. By starting small, I will be preparing myself spiritually for the greater plans God has for me. I am counting down to my first duty on 20 July 2007 when I can let new friends feel welcome like how I first felt. God will use me to usher people into their destiny and the vision God unveiled for me is to be an usher for the 1000 people church, something I believe will come to pass in the near future.

hey there,

today was a powerful service. When Pastor How told us to seek the Holy Spirit for a vision, I seek for a vision in usher too. So I am here to share more about my vision for usher (:

The vision i had was seeing myself as just someone who is there to support pastors, chief ushers and the section leaders. With every number 1 man, there is a number 2 man. I am the latter. I would be someone who would make them feel secure that someone would be watching their backs while they are leading the fight to usher a 1000 people. LOL. For now, I can be zai enough to let my leaders know I can take care of a certain thing and they can do other things without worries. And when my section leaders cant be there, I can be there to help. I am praying and planning to make my vision come to pass (:

Well I am sure many of you has a dream to be a chief or even head usher. I dream of being a head usher too. However, I think that we should not dream of promotion, but dream of going to that level of a head usher. For when you are secure in what you do, God knows you are ready for promotion.

Hi Spartans,

"Chicken Soup for Spartans" by Christopher.

Firstly, Spartan is not only to referring the citizens of Sparta, but if you use it as an adjective, it is defined as being courageous, undaunted, brave and resolute in adversity and also being disciplined. As you can see, it reflects how the Spartans in the movie 300 are like.

So, let's call ourselves Spartan Ushers as it is grammatically correct.

In the ancient Greek times, Sparta created one of the toughest and most disciplined armies in world history. Their soldiers were trained from infancy to be tough and obedient to their laws.

The training gave boys the three most vital traits of a Spartan:

Toughness: To be physically strong and to endure hardships
Obedience: Being loyal to Sparta and disciplined in the military
Fearlessness: Go into war with no fear and to die in battle is a great honour

However, let us turn it around to apply it in a spiritual way and relate in to serving as an usher.
As Ushers,

Toughness is defined as being strong and durable. We need to be strong in our conviction and our spiritual life.
Like what Jian Ming shared with us, Obedience is the key to unlock other qualities. If you obey and submit to your leaders, everything will be good and going.
We need to be fearless, not arrogant, but courageous and bold. I can't emphasize this more. 1 Chronicles 28:20 says everything.

Let's be Spiritual Spartans in usher. Amen!

And lastly, an acronym for SPARTANS;

*Tactful means showing skill and sensitivity in dealing with people.

Since young, I had many dreams.
However, in my walk with God so far, I had just this one specific dream.
And it is to become a businessman.
I once had a vision of buying a plot of land with a magnificient buliding on it. Well I suppose it is heart of God church on that land(:

Then, I feel God just telling me the good character that i need to fulfil my dream. Things like tithing and giving. If I cant part with $10 now, how can I part with millions in future.

Since I came into usher ministry, I've learnt many things. It basically built the foundations for my christian walk. I learnt things like importance of prayer, care for people, putting myself in other's shoes etc.

Talking about me being an usher. Like Alton, I did not choose to be in usher ministry. However, I remembered how an usher smiled at me during my first time in church and how much it will impact a new friend. Thus, I carried this dream to edify others life.

As the church and usher ministry goes up another level, I need to go to a new level too. Thus, I decided to break free from my comfort zone and soar. Starting from this saturday's service.

Just a quick post at 1AM!

FIGHTERS are ushering this Sunday, all y'all fighters out there, let's all come for usher k :D Let's breakthrough in our attendance at um, a more... how do i put it, more desirable manner! Heheheh yeah.

I can't wait for every usher duty now :D

I could remember my very first time stepping into church, where the copious copies of unfamiliar faces never failed to intimidate me despite the familiarity of my schoolmates encircling me, the amiable smiles of the ushers definitely made me feel a lot more welcome.

Of course, us ushers being such sweeeeeeet people, there are the occasionally love notes stuck on the green chairs, warming messages ranging from "You are loved!" to "You have a purpose in life!" is definitely a plus point.

I can't wait to serve, i can't wait to greet the next new friend with our signature usher smile.
I can't wait to see the smile of a new friend who felt welcome in this place we call our home, i can't wait to see that same new friend raising his arms to worship God, singing the same freedom anthem we all had sung.

We usher people into their destiny, don't give God second best, because God gave us His best, His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ! :D

Sweet salvation, my heart never fails to soar and sing everytime i see an unfamiliar face streaked with tears, his broken heart mended by God, shattered dreams flying again, joy overflowing his heart, all coming from the Lord our God.

Who knows, that person might have just been one of us.
Who knows, if had we ushers not been there, one of us would not have been here?
So...

Usher Challenge - EXTENDED!!

HI Ushers,

I already got the winning team. The winning team will be the team that will usher the people into their destiny for SINGPOST GRAND OPENING SERVICE, 11th AUGUST 2007.

However, the current winning team may not be the one doing for the opening service. I need to be fair to everyone.
Therefore, I’m extending the challenge.

New Challenge!!

By this Friday, we will see which team has the most number of crews that tag here.
Example: Pei Shan: Warriors!!
Same as last week!

What we going to do is to add up the score of last week and this week. The team with the highest score is the team that will do SINGPOST GRAND OPENING SERVICE.

learning to serve really change my perspective about things like

my bad habbits xD

I learn that being late is not only wasting me and the people who are waiting for me but it also may lead to an ineffective service o.O

The dream of mine isn't really big as to compare with God has install for me so here i go i wanna Give the best and not short change God in everything i do
( i know its hard to do that all the time )

i want to also not only usher people into thier destiny i wanan bring/lead them into it. where they can See God face to face and be a HAPPY Child of God

Hi Everyone!!

In this post, I want to share with you all about my dreams in Usher Ministry!
Firstly, I want to reach a level where is can lead a team who will give their best and Usher like that army 300 soliders!!!
Because Usher Ministry is a training ground of the Church!! ((:

This is just so amazing! And seeing ushers growing in the Ministry and seeing people being sent out to other Ministry to help out! ~Feels like a army of 300!!

And when I see post like Miaow Guan really inspires me to keep on going for God and serving Him all my best beacuase I want to see more of Miaow Guans raising up and help to carry the burden of the Church. Like what Pastor always say, Church is not about the Building but is about the People! Passionate for Christ and Hunger in them to Live Learn Lead!!!
But on top of that, our life have to be in order! Amen!

Hi all ushers,

today i was talking to peishan. and she mentioned this thing..

don't you feel that there is something happening in this blog? there is just this buzz and hype atmosphere here! and its not just physically, if you notice there is sort of a spiritual element in it. I believe God is at work here guys! somethings gonna change and move our usher ministry like never before! Amen? ^^

i think for myself how i came into this ministry was very different from other people. haha! because when i first came into usher i didn't ask to be in it. neither did i wanted to be in it, my choice of ministry then was video and cafe. (which i did not get into either) i became one of the first batch of ushers in FTMS, Roy was still the Head Usher then. but over time, as i got discipled and grew in usher, so did my love for serving in Usher! It was here that i learnt to take note of little details and it is here that i learnt about punctuality and the importance of it. till today im still learning from all the chief ushers and Jianming too!

i'm really thankful to be given the chance to rise up to where i am now in this ministry. =) like what nadine said, without this ministry, i would not be what i am today. i would not be able to plan things, not be able to lead people. and it was also thru this ministry that i got to know friends and really got my roots planted in church! =D

and i know of some people that are always loving usher duty! one of them is agnetta! -claps
you know? she went around church telling people she know, that she missed ushering for church pledge day and that she was so angry that she couldn't not go overseas w her parents. she was telling me "alton! you know what anot? sian le~... i asked jianming if i can usher for pledge day, and he gave me the green light liao le! den now i have to go for this stupid trip and i'll be missing pledge day and ushering for it la!!" she so so desired to usher!

so ushers!! (FIGHTERS ESPECIALLY! :p ) let not your next duty be just another duty! expect something different, treat it differently from your last duty! this time is always gonna be better then the last time you did it! correct whatever mistakes you did in the last duty, smile wider, pray that people will get touched by your one sentence "Hi! Welcome to Heart of God Church!" and know that whenever you usher someone, its not just ushering them to their seats. YOU ARE USHERING THEM INTO THEIR DESTINY IN GOD!!

Wow, reading Miaow Guan's post have just motivated me so so much.

It's true, Usher Ministry has also been called the training ground, a place where people's character change, and most importantly, their lives. And I'm a living testimony! :DDD

I became an usher last April. And I'm proud to declare that Usher Ministry is my first ever ministry!!! If anyone ask me why would I want to join this ministry, I would always tell them the same thing:

"Cos hor, during Create '05, it was only my 3rd visit to church. Then during the break, I saw the ushers and they are so cool! All the dancers were also ushers and they were helping to carry the chairs!!!"

I think without Usher Ministry, I would not have come so far...

I've grown a lot. And it's all because of this superb, fantastic and wonderful ministry! Not only have I learnt things like being detailed, faithful in the small things, and also fierce stuffs like how to disciple people! Hahaha.

From the Chief Ushers, I've learnt the importance of prayed up SMSes. Cos I've witnessed a service, when ALL the ushers sent their prayed up SMS, and we had SO MUCH time to pray for service, and each chair. That day's service was fantastic! Everything just went so smoothly. From that day, I was even more determined to make sure all ushers send their prayed up SMSes. (hint to all fighters! hahaha)

From Jian Ming, one simple thing: care for your ushers. I was just a new crew then. Doors were going to open. Still, he came to me, and asked me if I was thirsty. Of course I said no! But he knew and asked me to quickly go take a sip of water. I'm touched by this little action (:

Then, Noni became my Chief Usher. He's always there. Whenever you need help, you know he's there. And together with Jian Ming, he has risen me up to where I am today. He taught me how to be firm, how to gain respect, usher skills... Countless things.

In simple terms, without Usher Ministry, I would not be who I am today.

A Story

Hi Ushers,

Heard from Wei Chao about this blog. He ask to share about our dreams for the future. So.. I guess it's good to share how I feel about usher ministry and where it brought me.

Usher ministry was my first ministry in church, it's a place where I pick up the heart of serving. Here it's a journary to pick up traits, character, attitude and passion from the people around you. Not only you get to learn from your Head Usher and Chief Usher, you get to learn from your fellow usher crew as well.

In the being of usher, I start off to be lead by Koon Yew. That time Roy was leading as a head usher. I then learn from Roy the submisive heart when he shared with me an example what happens when the hands and legs doesn't listen to the head. All things will start to go wrong, that where I learn to obey instructions carefully.

From Koon Yew, I learn the heart of being detailed. I remembered last time, there was a mounting board that has a layout of the church. Koon Yew will always pick the names, place them on the board and explain the positions to us. He could have just pointed the positions and tell us where we should go. Instead, he always find the names of the ushers from a plastic bag where everyone's name are being mixed around and stick them on the board.

Then it goes on to Noni. He had a great passion to serve, from his stories I caught the heart of serving. Pastor once shared that before the renovations for FTMS was completed. The toilet was in a mess and no one clean it. But Noni took the intiative and clean it up. That was the amazing thing, he could have choose not to do it. But because the heart to serve is there, no matter what task it is. The hands will be willing to complete it.

Next it was Pei Shan. She was focus about pray up, that's where the usher beyond of only performing tasks to operating in the spirit. From Pei Shan I learn the importance of praying up before service. Prayer kick start our sprirtual engines, when we pray up before we usher. Our sense will be sharper towards the people who need us to brighten our day. Just because of a prayer, your alertness to turn toward a new friend, look him or her in the eye and smile can make a big difference.

I caught the heart of giving best from Jian Ming. He never give second best to God, he always taught us that if we are to serve God half-heartedly during a service. It is better that we don't serve at all. From him I saw the importance of giving my best, if we are giving our best. We would not forgot to bring things, wear the wrong attire, don't smile... God has given us His best, and we should give our best to Him as well.

Hunger to serve was found in two girls, one was Hwee Yee and the other was Alexander. Rememeber that once Alexander face major PO, that means she can't even serve in usher. But she want it so badly, she thought of a plan; she will ask a friend to bring the clothes for her to church and after that her friend will once again bring it home to wash for her. She could have become a regular sunday/satuday christian. But she choose not to. Same for Hwee Yee, there was a time, she got major PO and she could only come for service sometimes, but whenever she got a chance. She will sneak out during the day she is on duty and do usher.

Faithfulness was to be found in Ah Cai, Gang Yuan and Jacky. They had been the church for the longest period and never once their passion to serve died off. Faithfulness is found when you are doing the same thing over and over again without losing the passion for it.

This jounary to learn and serve still goes on and there are still many thing wait for me to learn and waiting for you to learn as well. It's a matter of observing and discovering, everyone has something special waitting to be given to others. Have the wanting to learn from them and you will find it from them...

For me, I don't have a specfic dream that I want to reach and go to. But I do know one thing that I want to do, if there is a need for me to help I will help. If I have the ability to do it, I will do it. But if I don't have, walk in faith and God will help.

WHOO HOO! WAS JUST LOOKING AT THE WHOLE CHURCH GATHERING OUTISDE MARINA SHOPPING CENTRE PLAYING GAMES AND I WAS SO EMO. "THIS SIGHT IS SO BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE MY CHURCH!" WAS MY CRY THAT NIGHT. Welcome to the first official post of our very own usher blog! :D (if you ignore the testing post)
What a great way to start! Photos of our usher gathering at Sentosa! Wheeeeeeeee.

To start off, the guys were playing bball (as usual),

Whereas some people just kept eating...

You would not believe the amount of otah a teenager can finish (in this case: Jonathan),

Did I mention the amount of food that we have brought?

One fact that I've learnt: Our ushers just love acting cute!

While others are just natural cute (it can't be helped :D ),

Even the way we transport our food is also so cute! (Featuring Ah Cai and Gang Yuan)

Some people were emo-ing (LOL)...

Throwing our Chief Usher, Shanny, into the water is definitely a must! OOPS.

We also gave the same royal treatment to our beloved ex-usher, Seah Darryl!
